● Daycare is a safer way to play. Each daycare dog has their own enclosure space in our lodging area so they can relax between play times. Our play groups are supervised by staff that are trained in dog behavior.
We do give tours and are not following strict Covd-19 protocols.
No. Because each dog in daycare has their own home base enclosure in our lodging area, we can evaluate their behavior with different groups to find the best match on the days they visit us. Some dogs may not do well in group settings. These dogs still have play times with our staff that includes playing with toys, petting, or other activities as most appropriate for your dog.
● Given safety and facility size, our daycare programs work on a dayboarding model. All dogs are assigned a homebase enclosure for the day then have potty breaks and play times scheduled through the day. They are not out all day long. Some dogs play in groups and for others individual playtime with toys with staff is more appropriate. Some dogs (particularly senior dogs) prefer to spend their time in the play area cuddling with staff and getting petted. We chose our dog play groups by energy level, size and play style. If your dog becomes a regular, they likely will develop playgroup friends.
● Schedule: The day starts with a potty break on arrival, rotations through morning play groups, lunch/rest, afternoon rotation of play groups, then preparation for check out. Puppy day boarding has its own unique schedule to reinforce potty training and socialization-- our reservation specialist can provide more information (218-302-1350) or info@canalbark.com.
● Because of the often challenging weather in Duluth, we have both indoor and outdoor play areas for the dogs. Our indoor play areas have special matting to ease wear and tear on your dog’s paws and joints. We have fun obstacles like ramps and tunnels in our play areas. Our outdoor areas have a wading pool when weather permits. Staff are always with the playgroups to supervise and provide interaction.
Dogs must be up to date on rabies, the DHPP combo vaccine, and bordetella. You can email copies to info@canalbark.com or ask your vet to email them to us directly.
Daycare dogs should be dropped off between 8-10am and picked up between 4-6pm (not including weekends). We are currently operating on valet/curbside service, so we will watch for you to pull up in your vehicle and will come out to greet you. If you arrive outside of these hours the doors are locked because we are in the back focusing on the dogs.

Existing clients can use our reservation portal. Please read the information about online booking on the portal carefully when booking. Our daycare fills fast so we ask that you book a week in advance when at all possible.
Should you need to change or cancel your reservations, please let us know a minimum of 24 hours prior to your arrival.
